The Trap Table, created for our Berkeley studio, enhances the of our workspace as a platform for experimentation. Designed, prototyped and fabricated in our shop, the Trap Table leverages the tessellating ability of half hexagons to create a system capable of a multitude of configurations. The Trap Table system allows us to quickly reconfigure our space from day to day for touch-down seats, events, special projects, and meetings of all shapes and sizes. Conceptually the Trap Table plays on the honest expression of a Parsons table: legs are shaped in acute and obtuse triangles to meet its trapezoidal top with the clean assembly of traditional mortise and tenon joints. A solid wood substructure and a hardwood veneer plywood top hand-rubbed with oil, provide durability and ease of maintenance amidst a busy studio.
