  • SF Design Week at Envelope

    27 June 2019

We had a full house for "More than Throwing Parties – Designing Tools to Transform Place," our SF Design Week conversation with Ilana Lipsett (Institute for the Future), Cassie Hoeprich (SF Office of Economic and Workforce Development), and Allegra Madsen (Bayview Opera House). Moderated by Envelope partner Nathan John, our discussion explored the growing field of public space activation and temporary use, and the challenges this work poses for those who are more accustomed to approaching design as a process that resolves itself in things. Drawing on our experience as the creators of PROXY and NOW Hunters Point, we asked: What happens when the process itself is the product? Thanks to our speakers and audience members for sharing their inspirational perspectives.
