Community planting day brings native plants to the Tenderloin

A community planting day provided an opportunity for neighborhood youth to be part of the design and building process of their new neighborhood park.
, running the length of the 200 block of Turk street, came from a community need for safe, outdoor spaces for play and relaxation. Children delighted in this rare opportunity to dig into the fresh dirt, scatter seeds, and learn about their environment. Fragrant plants, ferns and grasses were installed in colorful raised planters, chosen specifically for their robustness, seasonal flowering, and compatability with the shaded light of the park space.Plants and landscape consultation were generously donated by longtime San Francisco
